CFA SUPERVISORY ARCHITECTURE EVENT

Josina Kamerling, Head of Regulatory Outreach EMEA at CFA Institute, Marco Lamandini, Professor of Commercial Law at University of Bologna, and Danuta Hübner, Member of the European Parliament, will discuss the topics of the future of EU supervision (with particular focus on the recent European Commission proposal on the review of the European Supervisory Authorities, and the role of ESMA as a single supervisory authority for capital markets), and the consequences of Brexit.

Experts you will meet
President of CFA Society Poland, Professor of Economic Sciences at Wroclaw University of Economics (title given by the President of Poland in 1992), Head of Finance Management Institute. He is member in scientific and professional organizations: Member of Executive Board of Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of Polish Academy of Sciences, Member of Executive Board of Committee of Financial Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences , Member of Executive Board of Committee of Economic Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences. His research interests are: financial markets and instruments, risk management, corporate finance, real estate, insurance and quantitative methods (econometrics, statistics).He was a member of the Scientific Council of the National Bank of Poland and a member of the Supervisory Board of Warsaw Stock Exchange.
Josina Kamerling is Head of Regulatory Outreach for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region for CFA Institute. She is responsible for supporting CFA Institute policy development in the region, advancing the impact of advocacy efforts, and promoting capital market integrity and investor protection issues. Within CFA Institute, Josina is a member of the task forces on financial education and also on pensions, as well as promoting the debate on ethics by serving as co-president of the Jury for the global Ethics in Finance prize. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Ms Kamerling was a specialist adviser on financial services in the European Parliament for six years, and a senior banker for 15 years in various EU countries.
Marco Lamandini (1966) is Professor of Corporate and Capital Markets Law at the University of Bologna. He also sits in the Board of Appeal of the European System of Financial Supervisors (ESFS) and in the Appeal Panel of the Single Resolution Board (SRB). He is a member of the European Commission Informal Group of Company Law Experts (ICLEG). He is a Vice-Chair of the Academic Board of the European Banking Institute (EBI-Frankfurt) and an Academic Member of the European Capital Market Institute (ECMI/CEPS-Brussels). His publications include the books ‘EU Financial Law. An Introduction’ (WoltersKluwers, (2016), ‘Il controllo’ (Milano: Giuffré, 1995), ‘Le concentrazioni bancarie’ (Bologna: Il Mulino, 1998), ‘Struttura finanziaria e governo nelle società di capitali’ (Bologna: Il Mulino, 2001) and a number of articles, primarily on the law of financial markets, company law and antitrust law. He lives in Bologna and Milan with Vesna and Tancredi.
Danuta Hübner, Poland's first-ever European Commissioner, is one of her country's foremost economists and policymakers and has played a key role in the enlargement of the EU. Since July 2009 Ms. Hübner is a Member of the European Parliament. Currently she is the Chair of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs as well as member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Delegation for relations with the United States. She was also a member of the two successive Special Committees on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect from February 2015 to July 2016. In addition she is a substitute member of the Parliament's Committee on International Trade, the Delegation to the EU-Mexico Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. In 2004 Professor Hübner was entrusted as European Commissioner with the trade, then the regional policy portfolio. Earlier, during the past decade, her roles in Poland's Government have included Minister for European Affairs, Head of Office of the Committee for European Integration and Secretary of State for Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade and Minister Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. In 2000-2001 Professor Hübner was Under-Secretary-General of the UN and Executive Secretary at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva. She studied at the Warsaw School of Economics where she obtained an MSc (1971) and a PhD (1974). In 1988-1990 Professor Hübner was a Fulbright scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1992 she was conferred with the scientific title of Professor of Economics by the President of the Republic of Poland. She has been awarded with five doctorates honoris causa by European universities.
